FSB FURY

At the south end of A Shau Valley, approximately 42 km SW of Hue in Thua Thien Province, I Corps. It was a hole blown in the mountain jungle by two 10,000 pound bombs, built during Operation Massachusetts Striker, 22 Mar 69 to 8 May 69. FURY was a forward base which meant that it was the deepest into the enemy’s territory and the farthest from the 101st support lifeline. Our commanders ultimately decided to abandon FURY but only after we destroyed it so the enemy would not find anything useful.
